truth

Riddle me this. Riddle me that.

An extremely quick doodle on a working lunch on the subject of truth.

Our minds are capable of amazing feats of deception. The trick is finding the truth and seeing the truth not what your mind wants you to see. A lie sometimes is a truth in itself, if you can see it.

* Zetetic - Proceeding by inquiry; a search or investigation; a skeptical seeker of knowledge.

Zetetic

The world is a lie until you alter your eye.
But then is your eye the lie
as the world fills your eye with a blinding lie.

Veritas

The latin for truth is Veritas.

Truth is a quality, which is often misunderstood and is far to big a subject to explain here.

The following is inspired by my brother saying "..a link to the past" on a facebook message and our first meeting where I realised the final piece of truth had come at last.

The Bridge of Veritas

A table of disjointed jigsaws brood like dropped meat
birth demons and angels; snarls and smiles.

So it is Solomon fills his hands with the task
turns fine silk to Soldier’s rags

two decades stuffed in the bruised pocket
the tall man comes, strides the abyss

Opens his arms to bridge the gap
Reveals the final piece.

Doodle In The Chaff

In conversation recently my work was referred to as a site of pain to which I replied it is a site of truths (as well as silly nonsense ;) ).

There is a cog creaking away in the back of my head on the subject of truth but in the meantime I had the desire to put pen to paper to blow away some chaff.

The Truth Of A Stone

A rain of rocks do not break the man
as they beat against his bones

Nor do the leeches placed upon his tongue
to drink the weeping wound dry.

It is the stone in his throat
the refusal to swallow the truth
knowing it will not die.

The Invisible Substance

There is no truth. A Wiseman knows this, never tells you it is right, never tells you it is wrong, while the fool proclaims the truth, writes it on the walls, laces it within bread and water, tells you to eat.

A Wiseman offers nothing but a mirror of questions to be reflected in the eye, thought on, explored like a newborns steps and learnt from every stumble and fall, while the fool judges on a pedestal and whips the legs forever onwards.

There is no truth, only what you are prepared to accept. Be wise, never be a fool.
